India is one of the leading travel destinations due to its rich culture and wonderful history. With countless manmade and natural sites, the influx of tourists wanting to experience this wonderfully complex nation is not something to belittle.
Perhaps this is the reason why so many online travel agencies and travel services are born from India. The combination of its flourishing IT and tourism industry has given rise to these businesses. Among them is Cleartrip — a web company that provides travelers a way to book flights, hotels, train tickets, and holiday packages online. How well does it perform? Let’s find out by looking at these Cleartrip reviews.
Origins and ownership
Cleartrip was founded in 2006 by business partners Stuart Crighton, Mathhew Spacie, and Hrush Bhatt. The trio wanted to make travel a lot easier, as their slogan states “Making Travel Simple”. It began its first international venture in May 2010 in UAE. The Chief Executive Officer of the company is Stuart Crighton.
What people are saying
As noble as their goals may be, not everyone appears to be enjoying their booking experience with Cleartrip. Based on the many Cleartrip reviews I found in various websites, their customer support quality suffers from countless flaws. Here are some of the reviews:
“They should stop booking railway tickets. They take payment first and then transfer you to irctc website. You know how a government website functions. It did not go thru and then cleartrip said they would refund in 15 days. Why keep my money that long? Ridiculous!!!”
“They have a huge list of hidden rules where they will talk about it after you have booked the ticket. My suggestion is to avoid booking with clear trip”
“My stay at Bhimtal was ruined by Cleartrip by their misinformation given on the website. Images of rooms were not matching with the actual ones. Worst even, the agents and managers are equally disgusting as none of them could provide a resolution. ”
The website lacks any visual appeal, in my personal opinion. While I am the type who likes minimal website designs, Cleartrip’s layout is really plain and dull. No images are found in their homepage and the font used doesn’t look good.
As for the features, there is a flight booking form in the middle of the homepage. Simply fill up all the necessary fields and click the “search flights” button to see available flights.
Aside from flight booking, clients may also book hotels, trains, as well as flight + hotel combos.

Unfortunately, those who planned on booking their travel services with this online travel agency may have to consider another company. As per the Cleartrip reviews above, the company takes part in several unscrupulous practices. If you value your money and your vacation time, try booking with a different company that does not lie to its customers.
